4th IESMCRC HR Annual Conclave 2024: Building Talent for Sustainable Growth

MUMBAI | IES’s Management College and Research Centre (IESMCRC), in association with the National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM), successfully concluded its 4th Annual HR Conclave at The Orchid Ecotel, Vile Parle, Mumbai, on the 28th of September, 2024. The event highlighted IESMCRC’s dedication to facilitating discussions on the latest trends and practices in the field of human resources.This year’s theme was "Building Talent for Sustainable Growth." The conclave emphasized the importance of aligning talent management strategies with sustainable organizational development. Discussions during the event focused on effective approaches to building a skilled, motivated, and engaged workforce capable of driving long-term growth.The event began with a warm welcome from Dr. Sapna Modi, I/c Director of IESMCRC, who greeted the esteemed guests and set the tone for the day’s discussions. IESMCRC focuses on cultivating Leaders of tomorrow. There needs to be holistic grooming of talent for them to integrate well into an organization for sustainable growth.

Mr. Salil Desai, Chairman of NIPM- Mumbai Chapter, gave a brief on NIPM and it’s role in developing a robust community of Human Resource Professionals.In addition to the engaging discussions, the event saw the attendance of prominent figures from the HR industry, further enhancing the value of the conclave as a networking and learning platform for HR professionals.

Mr. M Lakshmanan, Chief HR Officer, L&T, delivered the opening address, providing valuable insights on the evolving role of HR in promoting sustainable practices within organizations. He stated that youngsters should be aware that, “HR gets a seat at the table.” Talent Management has been evolving as a process where the newer generations expect quick opportunities for learning, development and career growth. “The importance of managing people will never go away.”

The panel discussions were both engaging and informative. Esteemed panelists included Mr. Salil Desai, Director of Talent & Culture at Sofitel Mumbai and Chairman of NIPM – Mumbai Chapter; Mr. Farhad Sattha, Director HR at PwC; Dr. Saamta Jain, Chief People Officer at Jewelex Group; and Mr. Mohit Kumar, President (HR) at Hindalco Industries Ltd. Mr. Sattha stated that the workforce is changing at a quick pace and HR Professionals need to create a talent supply chain. Mr. Desai mentioned that personal aspirations need to be aligned with what an organization needs. Dr. Jain gave emphasis on humans supplementing their skills to what automation can do in this age of digital transformation. Mr. Kumar gave insights on how change and Technologies like artificial intelligence, big data analytics need to be embraced. He stated that an organization needs to be a better reflection of the community it represents. Overall, the panel emphasized that for organizations to achieve sustainable growth, HR professionals must adapt to rapid changes in workforce needs, technology, and inclusivity, aligning talent management strategies with the evolving expectations of both employees and the business.

An awards ceremony followed, recognizing the Top 20 HR Professionals for their significant contributions to the industry.The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Sanket Salvi, President of the Association of IES MCRC Alumni (AIA), followed by a cocktail and networking dinner, providing an opportunity for attendees to connect and reflect on the day’s discussions.

The IESMCRC HR Conclave continues to stand out as a premier platform for insightful discussions on HR trends, and it is expected to see even more participation in the coming years.
