The AVENIR Analytics Club of IES MCRC successfully organized a one-day SQL Bootcamp on 13th December 2025 with the objective of strengthening students’ practical understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL) and its real-world applications in data analytics and business decision-making. The session aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and hands-on industry practices.

The bootcamp was led by Mr. Nitish Sou, Data Scientist at Morgan Stanley, who brought rich industry experience and practical insights into enterprise-level data handling. His interactive teaching style and real-world examples helped participants understand how SQL is applied in professional analytics environments.

The bootcamp covered both conceptual clarity and hands-on implementation. Key areas discussed included:

• Fundamentals of SQL and relational databases
• Writing efficient SQL queries for data retrieval
• Use of SELECT, WHERE, JOIN, GROUP BY, and HAVING clauses
• Understanding table relationships and schema design
• Practical problem-solving using live datasets
• Industry best practices for query optimization

Live demonstrations were conducted in the Analytics Lab, where students actively practiced queries under the guidance of the resource person. Individual attention was provided to resolve doubts, making the session highly engaging and effective.

The bootcamp witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across programs. The hands-on format encouraged active learning, peer discussion, and real-time experimentation. Students appreciated the opportunity to work on practical SQL scenarios similar to those faced in corporate analytics roles.

By the end of the bootcamp, participants were able to:

• Analyze structured datasets effectively

The SQL Bootcamp organized by the IES MCRC AVENIR Analytics Club was a significant success, providing students with valuable technical skills and industry exposure. The club looks forward to organizing more such industry-driven, hands-on learning initiatives in the future.
