Every Independence Day marks a celebration of freedom and progress earned by our nation. However, from 2025 onward, the ambivalence would not be merely the question: "What has India given me?", but also: "What can I give to India?”

For today's management students, this is definitely more than just hoisting the tricolour or attending flag-hoisting ceremonies. Instead, it is about contributing skills, ideas, and leadership towards New India - an innovative, inclusive, and sustainably developed India.

Why Management Students Are Important for the Development of New India?

India is projected to become the third-largest economy by the year 2030. But to make this dream a reality, India needs leaders who can

  • Innovate in business and social enterprise settings
  • Lead competently within an ethical framework in a complex global environment
  • Contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals
  • Create jobs through entrepreneurship

Management students today are not just learners but also the creators of the future economy for India.

Ways Management Students Can Contribute New India

1. Stand for Ethical Leadership

Ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in business practices. Promote good corporate governance and ethical decision making. A PGDM graduate joining a corporate as a manager can ensure inclusive hiring and fair workplace policies.

2. Drive Innovation & Startups

Use management knowledge to fill market gaps and create meaningful ventures. Focus on sectors like renewable energy, AgriTech, EdTech, and FinTech. India ranks third in the world in the startup ecosystem; management graduates can take it higher.

3. Skill Development

Provide counselling and training in employable skills for the underprivileged youth. Support government ventures like the Skill India Mission.

Management students from colleges like IES MCRC take part in several CSR projects and outreach programs to better the local communities.

4. Sustainability into Business

Introduce eco-friendly business models and green supply chains. Advocate for company policies that reduce carbon footprints. Sustainable packaging introduced in FMCG companies can drastically reduce plastic waste.

5. Develop Rural & Semi-Urban Economies

Develop rural entrepreneurs through business strategy. Collaborate with self-help groups and cooperatives to open up market access. India rural has deep untapped potential - management skills need to unleash it.

6. Strengthening India’s Global Competitiveness

Initiate and promote cross-country collaborations and multilateral trade. Strengthen ‘Make in India’ as a brand trusted all over the world. Acting as business ambassadors, management graduates will place Indian products and services competitively across the globe.

IES MCRC Prepares Students to Build This Role

At IES Management College and Research Centre, we believe management education is not just about career prospects. It is about nation-building. Our PGDM programs equip students with:

  • Leadership and decision-making capability compatible with ethical values
  • Exposure to social impact projects and CSR activities
  • Entrepreneurship and innovation labs to foster startup culture
  • Opportunities to interact with industry and policy-makers

In our view, these graduates must become job-ready as well as nation-ready.

Freedom with Responsibility

Independence Day is a reminder that, with freedom, responsibilities come. Management students, as future leaders, managers, and entrepreneurs, are, with their knowledge and power, capable of building New India - an India that is innovative, sustainable, and respected globally.
